UNM is an active participant in the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and is a part of the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Research Universities (HSRU).

President Garnett S. Stokes serves on the boards of both HACU and the HSRU, and UNM has invited students and university leaders to participate in HACU’s many programs. For more information, see HACU's website. UNM is an inaugural member of the HSRU. The HSRU seeks to increase representation among Hispanic doctorates and the professoriate.
