UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS RESOURCES

The Division for Equity and Inclusion is invested in the success of UNM students.

The LGBTQ Resource Center committed to serving our UNM community by providing education, advocacy, and support through our events, trainings, and student groups. The LGBTQ Resource Center was founded in 2010 by students, staff, faculty, and community members to create a space where our LGBTQQIA community can not only survive, but thrive.

The Inclusive Excellence 3 (IE3) Grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI aims to support equitable and inclusive learning environments for introductory-level STEM students from all background. The Division for Equity and Inclusion (DEI) received a six-year (2022-2028) sub-award from the IE3 Grant for the program Mentoring Black Student Excellence at UNM and Creating a STEM Equity Bank. Other collaborators of the sub-award are African American Student Services, and the Department of Africana Studies. In addition to strengthening Black students’ retention, the program also aims to foster organic connections among African American Student Services (AASS), Africana Studies, and Black faculty and staff at UNM. Lastly, the program will give rise to a STEM Equity Bank, so that the best practices learned from the project can be shared across the region and nation.
The New Mexico AMP Undergraduate Research Scholarship (URS) was developed in recognition of the value of undergraduate research as a part of pursuing a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).  The scholarship provides undergraduate STEM majors with financial support (stipends and research support) during their research experience at the university.

The UNM Diversity Council brings together varying levels of expertise in diversity matters, a broad cross-section of occupations/disciplines from across UNM’s academic community. Council members reflect the remarkable diversity of backgrounds and ideas at the University of New Mexico and come together to improve the University’s performance where diversity, equity and inclusion are concerned.
