The UNM Division for Equity & Inclusion recognizes the importance of this moment, yet we continue to grieve along with George Floyd’s family and Black communities nationwide. 

We understand the guilty verdict does not equate to justice because this outcome does not undo the harm and pain of the past year. 

Justice can never truly be served while communities of color continue to be victimized by law enforcement. 

We remain committed to eliminating systemic racism, which fuels unjust practices prevalent in our society.
