2015 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Summit

Purpose of Summit:

To initiate discussions about how New Mexico's institutions of higher education can serve an increasingly diverse student population. This includes enrollment by race/ethnic groups in increasing numbers, meeting the needs of New Mexico's diverse groups, gender shifts of the college-going population from majority male to female, LGBT and non-traditional student needs, veterans returning to college and increasing access for individuals with disabilities, and a focus on internalization.

Expected Outcomes:

  1. Participants will gain insight from national and state data.
  2. Participants will identify what the needs may be on their campuses.
  3. Participants will establish strategies for how they might address diversity and engage internal and external communities in those conversations.
  4. Participants will determine how they will continue to engage in additional conversations with NM institutions of higher education to address diversity, equity, and inclusion.
