Men of Color Initiative

The University of New Mexico (UNM) Men of Color Initiative (MOCI) is led by the UNM Division for Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in partnership with campus departments, student clubs and community groups as well as student leaders, faculty, staff and community to increase access and success for male students of color at the university. In 2011-2012 the UNM MOCI will:

  1. gather and share data and research, including best practices as well as quantitative data, on access and success for men of color at UNM and in higher education as well as successful programs at other schools
  2. develop a working group to address and take action on access and success for male students of color
  3. develop a student-led model project(s) for access and success for male students of color at the university

2012-2013 Men of Color Initiative (MOCI) Ally, Mentor & Student Leader Recognition & Reception

The Men of Color Initiative (MOCI), a project of the Division for Equity and Inclusion, invites men of color to nominate an ally, mentor or student leader for men of color. 

MOCI wants to recognize all and any allies and mentors to men of color from men of color students from UNM or the educational pipeline. MOCI asks that all nominators be male students of color at UNM or CNM. All nominations must be received by midnight on Wednesday, April 15 and nominees will be recognized at the 2nd Annual MOCI Ally & Mentor Recognition Reception on Thursday, May 2 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the UNM Student Union Building (SUB).
