The Division for Equity and Inclusion provides direct oversight to the following units of the University: the ENLACE Statewide Collaborative, the LGBTQ Resource Center, and the Office of Equal Opportunity. Because of compliance oversight, the Office of Equal Opportunity has reported directly to the President of the university in the past, and continues to have an indirect reporting line to the President’s Office in compliance matters.
Office of Equal Opportunity
The Office of Equal Opportunity envisions the University of New Mexico as a community where the value of diversity is recognized and where equal opportunity is afforded for all. The mission of the Office of Equal Opportunity is to promote equal access and treatment for all and to promote an environment free of discrimination and inequity in accordance with University values and policies and with federal and state equal opportunity and affirmative action statues and regulations.
The Lesbian Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Resource Center
The Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Resource Center strives to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all members of the University of New Mexico community. As a safe zone environment, the center promotes and values the worth and dignity of all people. Through education and leadership development, the center promotes a more civically engaged campus community committed to equality and equal opportunity for all people.
Enlace Statewide Collaborative
ENLACE is a statewide collaboration of “gente” who represent the voices of underrepresented children and families – people who have not traditionally had a say in policy initiatives which have had direct impacts on their communities or their families. Programs centered on family and community engagement, student to student mentoring, institution of sound educational policies, development of culturally relevant curricula, professional development for teachers and many more encompass the very essence of what ENLACE New Mexico believes in.
