2018 Diversity Summit

The Division for Equity and Inclusion is pleased to host representatives from New Mexico 2-year, 4-year, and Tribal Institutions, at the 2018 Diversity Summit: Advancing Diversity Curriciulum in Higher Education on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 9:30am-3pm at the UNM Science Park Rotunda at 801 University Blvd. NE.

What are the goals of the summit?

The Goals of the summit are:

  • To protect the integrity of the U.S. and Global diversity and inclusion undergraduate requirement
  • To support, to advance, to truly embrace diversity curriculum
  • To create an alliance or network of collaborative vision for advancing an agenda in diversity and curriculum for the state of New Mexico

Who should attend?

  • Educators, Deans, Faculty, Administrators, Community Leaders, and Student Leaders, as well as anyone who is interested in the trajectory of diversity curriculum or social justice in education?

Why should I attend: what are the take-always and outcomes?

  • Diversity Requirements are being established across higher education institutions and the summit will provide historical background of why this movement is critical across higher education institutions.
  • To learn about promising practices on how diversity requirements in the state of New Mexico are being established.

What is the cost?

  • The cost is Free and open to anyone who is working with diversity curriculum and programs.

Where do I park?

  • The summit will be held at the UNM Science Park Rotunda 801 University Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. (See map)
  • Parking is available just north of the building in the parking structure. A code will be provided to all registrants prior to the event.

What do I need to bring?

  • An open mind and your commitment to diversity.  If you have documents on diversity or other items to help engage your colleagues, please bring to help shape the conversation.  A sweater maybe for the cold air conditioning in the room.

How to justify this to my supervisor?

  • If requested during registration, you may also be provided with a certificate confirming your attendance at the event.

Will I have access to Wi-Fi?

  • Yes.  UNM has a guest Wi-Fi you can sign into.
